Rosewich co-founders managed the fabrication on the world’s largest observation wheel, at over 170 meters tall. Similar to the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, this was a truly international effort; support legs, hub spindle, rim came from China, the cables came from Germany, the hub and spindle castings from Japan, and many temporary structures were from the USA. Large portions of the project were “fracture critical,” requiring a more stringent specification to be used. Specific dimensional control procedures were required and virtual trial assembly was utilized to assure fit-up of all components from various fabricators and because the rim was too big to completely trial assemble in the shop
